Wen’s Modern Acupuncture Approach
Inspired by the research of Nobel laureate Shinya Yamanaka on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs), Dr. Wen has explored embryology and neurophysiology to better understand acupuncture through the lens of modern medicine.
He observed that certain localized areas of the body—such as the ear, scalp, tongue, and regions around the eyes—can reflect the whole body. By stimulating specific points in these areas, it is possible to influence corresponding organs or systems.
Dr. Wen describes these regions as “maps” of the body, containing connections to the trunk, limbs, and internal organs. Stimulating targeted points on these maps may help activate or regulate related tissues and functions, in a way that supports balance in systems such as the autonomic nervous system and immune response.
This approach focuses on identifying responsive points within these localized areas, based on principles related to embryological development. Through stimulation of these points, along with supportive points when needed, the treatment aims to help regulate physiological and functional imbalances, including autonomic dysregulation, immune response, and localized conditions.
